Steamboat at 坤记炭烧火窝饭店

After a long drive up to cool Cameron Highlands, it's time for pipping hot steamboat at Brinchang. There are a row of shop houses selling nothing but charcoal steamboat with unlimited servings of raw vegetables. Side dishes are available upon separate charges. Customers are spoilt with choices but trust me, they all taste the same.

After parking our car in front of the shop, we walked into  坤记炭烧火窝饭店 because we had lunch at the same shop last year with our late-brother. This time we have a bigger group including uncle Victor, Vinchiang, dad, mom, max and I.
The speciality of this shop is the slow heating by charcoal, hence the long chimney attached to the steamboat. This is the true traditional way of cooking steamboat as oppose to modern electric cooking stove concept. The ingredients are basic - fish ball, chicken, tofu, tofu products, fish etc but the vegetables are the freshest produce you can find since Cameron Highlands is the main area for all fresh produce in Malaysia.
After a few rounds of cooking, the best bit is in the soup. We added noodles last to avoid the soup turning starchy. At RM30 per pax, this is a place to be to warm up the tummy in cool cool weather.
